Cosmic Insignificance
No matter how important we think we are, in terms of all that is out there in the universe or multiverse, we don’t really amount to very much.
This is the last of the original Sunday-style strips that were made a number of years ago.
Ah, the world according to Wine Gums. What a complex series of complexities that is!!!
Pretty complex, I can tell you! And confusing, too.
Extremely confusing actually 🙂
I think we need some wine gums to try to figure it out.
I’m confused about this subject too, Winky….frustrating huh?
Yeah, but it goes down a lot better with wine gums!
I know, because they make my mouth water.
They make my brain water.
Ah, just like the chocolate does. I know how that is.
So, are chocolate wine gums totally out of the question?
Red.
Yeah, I find it hard to think when I eat.
Absolutely not! I think we need to have another chocolate and wine gum party for everyone!
Well don’t forget the party hats Winky or we won’t enjoy the party as much 🙂
Of course not! I’m going to bring chocolate party hats so we can wear them, then eat them!
No!…We can coat them with chocolate.
Coat the wine gums or the hats with chocolate? This thread is getting too long and confusing! And I was confused at the start of it!
I say make the hats out of chocolate and coat the wine gums. Confusion cleared by chocolate!
Red.
Chocolate and wine gums clear my mind of everything!
Yes and mine too Winky 🙂
To Winky:
Coat the wine gums with chocolate…..yummy!
Yes…this thread is long…will it break?…lol
Your not confused, you just need some chocolate.
Yes Deb more chocolate please, I think that Winky needs another pancake and Fraz loves his wine gums, Binky are you having marshmellows, oh and Chris can have the spam, Twink is already enjoying a few pieces of chocolate cake so how about that for adding to the thread of treats 🙂
I’m just going to sit down and have some more chocolate like Deb suggested and maybe it’ll all take care of itself. Whatever it is. I don’t even know what we’re talking about anymore!
Chocolate wine gums? Hmm, fondue anyone?
Or a chocolate fountain!
To Andro!
You did a fine job at cover all the Wombies…and Chris…lol and of course dispersing all the goodies to the proper candidates . But you forgot me…I’ll take a crap load of chocolate….I have Wombies to feed…lol
Winky, I think I told you once, but not sure of it, that we have a restaurant back home called the Golden Coral and they have a chocolate fountain…for real!
Hey Deb there is another fleet of trucks heading over here to our wickedly fine and great friends the Wombies and you know what that means? 🙂 Lots of spare chocolate for us to share, now how about that for exciting 🙂
I wonder if they’d let me camp out under their chocolate fountain? I can’t think of anything better!
Well I’m pretty excited, even if Deb isn’t!
I bet she’s excited, too, though.
Well I know that I am excited about it, and Deb loves chocolate so she will be jumping for joy with this result 🙂
If she ever finds us way down here!
Yes well I took the lift down here so it wasn’t a problem and I brought us some chocolate flavoured strawberries as a trial treat 🙂 I hope that you enjoy them Winky 🙂
Anything chocolate never goes to waste around me! They were great!
Behold…
the power…
of wine gums!
🙂
And I behold them a lot!
Me too because I still cannot grasp the power of wine gums.
I believe Americans have been unfairly denied Wine Gum access due to a radical anti-wine gum faction in congress.
Yes they are keeping them locked up in Area 51 I think? 🙁
That could be possible, though I have no evidence to support that at the present time.
Or evidence that an area known as “51” really exists.
Area 51 does exist, though what really goes on there is debatable. I wouldn’t mind taking a tour, but they have a strict No Wombats Allowed policy.
Utterly discriminatory.
Red.
I know, but it was the same when I applied to NASA. That’s why I’m building my own rocket.
Yes well as soon as it is completed we are going into orbit to find out what that dark matter tastes like 🙂 I hope there will be enough places for everyone? 🙂
The rocket is going to be so large, I’m not sure it’ll ever get off the ground! Perhaps a party rocket isn’t the best idea I’ve ever had, but I didn’t want to disappoint anyone.
Binky, I hope you are taking notes on the research and development of the telescope we need. If you build it, your rocket could be smaller, and those you leave behind could watch you navigate the galaxies.
Red.
That might be a good compromise, but I think it might take a great deal of time and effort to invent a working Yummievision-Smelloscope.
I think we need to be looking for a chocolate company as a sponsor. Certainly chocolate would speed the process and stimulate the brain to invent it…
Red.
That sounds like a viable solution. We’d even name the Yummievision-Smelloscope after the sponsor, if they wished. And the chocolate should help, too.
Yes Binky chocolate always helps, I wonder how long it will be before we blast off? 🙂
I’m not certain, but I fear the telescope project might delay us quite a while if I’m to perfect it before we leave.
Yes Binky we don’t want to miss out on all those fine experiments but maybe we can do the project in orbit? 🙂
I was under the impression that to justify leaving a lot of people and Wombies behind when we go on our mission, I would perfect the Yummievision-Smelloscope first so that those left back home wouldn’t miss out on our space expedition because they could experience it remotely.
Binky, as always you are the perfect genius, now why didn’t we think of that most excellent of ideas? Well you are not in charge of this Space extravaganza for nothing you know and we all appreciate your scientific excellence, put it this way we couldn’t blast off without you in the driving seat that is for sure, right Fraz open another box of chocolates it’s Happy Wombie Hour 🙂
Sure thing, boss! It’s always Happy Hour when you’re around!
Well Fraz as you are the Prince of the Wombies and I am Prince of the Goth I think that makes us as happy as a Vampy in Wombie Land 🙂 Let the Party commence 🙂
Does that mean if a princess kisses us we might turn into frogs?
No if a Princess kisses us then she turns into a chocolate fountain and we get to eat all the wine gums, marshmellows and if anyone wants frogs legs then they just have to drink a cup of chocolate from the fountain, that is how she returns to being a Princess 🙂 Well something like that anyway 🙂
Well I sure hope a princess kisses us, then! I want some of those chocolate wine gum marshmallows!
Keep looking Binky and Winky because there is bound to be a Wine Gum Nebula out there somewhere 🙂 Actually there are Spam Planets and Pancake Moons too, if you look closely enough 🙂
I’m going to have to start paying a lot more attention to astronomy. It all sounds so yummy!
The rings around Saturn are really pancakes with holes in the center…
Red.
You’re killing me! Now all I can think of is space food! And I can’t get there to eat it!!
We need to invent Yummyvision so that we can all enjoy the tastes of things that we look at through our telescopes, but it can only work when the telescope is pointing into outer space so hopefully Binky will have some thoughts on this new invention? 🙂
That sounds like the best invention ever! Binky better get started on it right away!
It is going to need a smelloscope as well. We need to be able to smell those wonderful pancakes.
Red.
That would be even better! Yummievision-Smelloscope! I hope Binky is taking notes.
I like the idea of the Smelloscope combination and just think of all those new tastes and out of this world smells we will be enjoying as we venture deeper into outer space? 🙂
We might just be the first to smell and taste outer space and all the planets and stuff in it! I wonder if comets taste like ice cream?
We could finally be definitive about what type of cheese the moon is truly made of…
Red.
I like the thought of sampling all that ice cream and cheese 🙂
I think I’m going to have some ice cream cheese cake and contemplate the tastes of the universe.
Yes and I wonder what ice cream on crackers tastes like? I think it is time for another experiment 🙂
Taste experiments are always so tasty!
I know let’s try a pancake with ice cream and then some cheese with marshmellow, well they can both be toasted so maybe we should eat those separately? 🙂
Sure, we wouldn’t want to cross-toast those delights!
If there is a Milky Way, there has gotta be a Wine Gum galaxy , there just has to be!!!
I’d sure like to be the first one to discover the Wine Gum Galaxy!
Yes and a marshmellow moon with spam stars and pancake planets sounds pretty cool too 🙂
Especially if we get close enough to any of them so that we can sample them!
What are you talking about, Bink???
Aaaahhhh…my one month old head is spinning @.@
Sorry, Papoe. If you’re awake after the sun goes down, look up at the sky and you’ll see lots of stars up there. Every one of those stars is a sun, and many of them may have planets like us. Just imagine, there may be planets out there ruled by turtles like yourself.
Hmm…I like that idea!! the planet of the turtles.
I am going to ask mommy to bring me outside now.
Star gazing can be a lot of fun, especially if the sky where you live is dark. Out in the country, away for a big city is best.
What’s there not to understand about multiverses? I mean I even wrote a book about it for you all.
Wine gums are a more complicated matter altogether though.
And a very interesting book it was!
The significance of wine gums, however, are best left to the philosophers.
And the tasting representatives too 🙂
I’ll volunteer for the wine gum tasting!
And Fraz will be first in line for the chocolates and pancakes 🙂
Fraz will have to fight me for it!
I think that Brian might want to join the queue for that one, chocolate is so exciting isn’t it Winky? 🙂
Brian can get his own chocolate, this one is between Fraz and me!
Well, maybe we’ll just share it instead.
Yes it is always good to share it out, but have you seen how BIG the line is since you said that you were sharing? 🙂
That kind of happens a lot around here. I bet if I was sharing broccoli (even though you like it) instead of chocolate, the line would be a lot shorter!
Yes Winky and if it was sprouts on offer there would be just me eating them on my own, as I know that you are not a keen sprout eater 🙂
Yeah, those are a couple of things that I could pass on, but I’ll always remember to save mine for you!
Thank you Winky you are just too kind 🙂
Mmm wine gums!
There’s nothing better!
Nothing except for yummy chocolate, delicious spam, sweetly pancakes and mind blowing marshmellows 🙂
I don’t know what’s better, chocolate or wine gums. They’re like two sides of a very delicious coin!
Maybe we can ask Binky to invent that new coin machine soon, and once they are pressed we can enjoy two of our favourite treats at the same time 🙂
Binky’s been awfully busy on that telescope thingy lately, though. Maybe we could convince Twink to make a chocolate-wine gum coin cookie. Maybe with some pancakes thrown in there, too.
That is a brilliant idea and we all love Twink’s cookies, I do hope that we will have plenty this time though, because Chris was hovering around last time, I wonder if he is a cookie snatcher? No, he is just sampling Twink’s recipes I think? 🙂
Everyone out of my kitchen! They’re too many tasters and not enough bakers!
Okay Twink I am rounding up the rascals and we will be out of your kitchen pronto 🙂
That’s good, because otherwise I won’t be able to do my eating in peace! I mean my baking.
Looks like you brought Binky back down to earth with your remark, Winky.
Binky can be pretty spacey sometimes! But he always comes back to earth for wine gums.
I think that Chris has a valid point there Winky but what will Binky think about it? 🙂
Binky doesn’t usually take what I say very seriously. So he probably didn’t think too much about it at all.
Sadly, I don’t think many of us compare favorably to winegums!
No, that’s true. We just have to look up to their perfection.
So true. We know so very little about many things. Too bad some folks don’t realize that.
Have a terrific day. 🙂
The more we learn, the more we know we don’t know.
And the more we don’t know, the more we can learn, if we can remember what the question was?
Learning is always good, even if we don’t remember what initially set us on the path to knowledge.
Yes I agree, and when we need to think about what set us on the right path, we can also enjoy a few chocolates and wine gums, that train of thought always helps me to think better 🙂
Yes, it’s hard to argue the clarity of thought that chocolate provides.
Yes and don’t forget the wine gums 🙂
That goes without saying!
Ah.. the sweet mystery of wine gums!
It’s not hard to figure out they’re delicious, though!
Very insightful and funny, my kind of strip!
And pretty tasty, too!
There is nothing like stripping a wine gum down and enjoying every last lick of it, actually it is the same with chocolate and pancakes too 🙂
I think I’d better go eat something yummy now before I starve to death!
Who licks their pancakes?
The lickers of outer UG of Uglamish, which is two hops past Venus and a stride to the right near Gloop, after that you will see the infamous Pancake Lickers of Pluto 🙂 See, I bet you never even knew about that Nurse Myra? 😉
I didn’t know about them either, actually. We will have to fly by there in my rocket, if I ever get it working.
I am sure that you are close to hitting the ignition switch Binky 🙂
Unfortunately I’ve had a few setbacks and am going to have to delay the launch again.
It’s okay we have just had a fleet of trucks deliver even more supplies of chocolate, pancakes, spam, wine gums and marshmellows so take as much time as you need 🙂
That’s a relief as I think it may take quite some time to rectify the latest problems with the guidance system.
I’ve seen Winky lick the maple syrup off his pancakes many a times.
Yes I like to lick the maple syrup off pancakes too, it’s amazing how these traits are passed down from Wombie to Wombie to Human and so on 🙂 I wonder if Chris will fancy licking a pancake after this exciting breakthrough? 🙂
Somehow I don’t see Chris as a pancake licker, actually.
No me neither but it was a nice thought 🙂
Which star is named after Wine Gums?
Red.
All of them, if I had my way!
By the way, are you named after the red wine gum? I’d sure like to be named after a wine gum!
I think there is a new one being invented called the Winkywonderful, and it is a sort of orange, lime and cherry twist all rolled into one juicy wine gum 🙂
They named a wine gum after me?? That’s the best thing that ever happened to me!!
Yes, I am named after the yummy Merlot wine gum with sweet hints of raspberry, blackberry and strawberry.
Red.
Mmm, you taste very good! I mean, your wine gum does.
Shh. Don’t tell everyone. They might get the right idea 😉
Red.
Yeah, I think it’s better to keep that secret.
well it’s too late now we all know what Red tastes like but if we are very quiet nobody else might notice 🙂
Maybe if we stand still and hide in this corner no one will notice us.
Yes Winky but while we are standing here we might as well help ourselves to some more wine gums 🙂
Just try to eat them without moving much.
And no smacking of your lips either, or they will all be wanting some 🙂
We have to try to be silent and still. Well as much as we can be while eating wine gums.
It’s a good thing that we can share them out and still be so quiet, I can hardly believe how silent you are chewing those wine gums Winky, especially with eating twenty at a time 🙂
I take my silent wine gum eating seriously!
Yes I know that, but what about eating some pancakes and marshmellows next, but don’t forget the popcorn or the carrots as that is one of the next discussions so we can get ready for that one 🙂
I think the carrots are too noisy to eat silently, but I wouldn’t mind eating some nice fluffy pancakes while I’m here.
So the sun is obviously a star that is afraid of the dark ‘cos it only comes out during the day.
Exactly!! I said something like that to Binky, but he didn’t believe me! Obviously he doesn’t know everything!
Winky your knowledge on wine gums is out of this universe so how about that for being Astrowinkynomical 🙂
That sounds pretty good, though I’m not really sure I can say Astrowinkynomical. Oh, well, maybe I can!
Before too long, you will be able to say it three times fast. You need to have a theme song named Astrowinkynomical.
Red.
A theme song? Wow, that’d be great! A wine gum and a theme song all in one day!
Yes it could be called Ging Gang Astrowinkynomical Ghouly Watcher and Wine Gums too, and Wine Gums too… Or something like that anyway? 🙂
Or maybe just Ga-ga-woo-woo for short? That would be easier for me to remember.
I like that jingle a lot better Winky, now all together everyone and after three… one, two, three… Ga-Ga-Woo-Woooooooo 🙂
Bing-a-ling-bong-bong!
I think this could be a pretty catchy song!
Ga-Ga-Woo-Wooooooo-Bing-a-Ling-Bong-Bong-Booooooo-Boooooooooo-Loooooooo-Gooooo 🙂 Yes it could be a number one this one, or fail and be a big number two instead 🙁
We should make a YouTube video of us singing it! That’ll sure to be a hit!
Yes I think that would be a number one for sure, and if Red, Deb, Sabina and all the gang joined in with this Ga-Ga-Woo-Wooooo-Bing-a-Ling-Bong-Bong-Boooooo-Loooooo-Goooooo well that would be definitely something to sing about 🙂
Yeah, a chorus of us singing should really good, especially if one or two of us can actually sing.
I think that Deb, Sabina and Red are good singers, but you and me are better off just eating all the chocolates 🙂
I guess you’ve overheard me singing in the shower, then.
I’m glad stars aren’t afraid of the dark too! Inventing new constellations is too entertaining for that.
I guess if stars were afraid of the dark, we’d have to get used to a sky without any stars. And that’d be dark and scary.
They are not afraid of the dark because they glow in the dark. The dark is afraid of them.
I never thought of it that way. The stars are like their own night-lights!
I’m significant to at least two that I know 🙂
It’s always good to be significant to someone. Giving people chocolate might help raise your significance level to others.
What’s a wine gum?
My religion teaches us to feel more important for we are a part of the stars, mountains, and magnificence of the world.
Catch My Words
http://joycelansky.blogspot.com/
Wine gums are like a chewier more flavorful version of ju-jubes.
That’s an interesting way to look at it. We are all a part, however small, of what makes up this world and galaxy and universe. I just don’t think we’re the most important part.
It’s a mystery world, don’t you know?
Pretty much everything’s a mystery to me!
Me too 🙂
True, that’s why I prefer not to do any deep thinking while eating my wine gums.
I prefer not to do any deep thinking at all.
haha, that’s an even better approach.
It’s worked well for me!
I like the cosmic feel of this strip. Cool!
Yes me too Nancy 🙂 Coooooooooool
The cosmos is a cool place to work! And if I ever get my rocket off the ground, I might be able to experience that.
cute and prolific!
I agree RT 🙂
Thanks, RT.
Classic Sunday comic throw-a-way gag in first two panels. Loved it! … I miss the newspapers sometimes.
I miss the wine gums 🙂
I always carry some around with me, so I never miss them myself.
That’s what I was aiming for, with a full Sunday-style strip layout. Ah, the glory days of the Sunday funnies when they had a half page each! These are fun to do, but a lot more work than the standard strip.
Yes but look at all the excitement it has generated, I think that we should have more of these longer strips 🙂 Maybe just on Sundays 🙂
We probably should have more of these longer comics, but I’ve run out! And it’s too much work for Sunday!
Yes stick to the shorter themes but do keep adding them as we the gang of plenty are enjoying them soooo much and where else would we be treated to so many pancakes, chocolate, wine gums, spam and all those yummy marshmellows? 🙂 It’s a brilliant adventure calling into Wombania and well done for entertaining us all too 🙂
I’m glad that everyone has had a good time here, but am I the one who’s going to have to clean up after everyone leaves?
Yes that was the plan all along, I think it was Binky that came up with it first and everyone else agreed 🙂 But there are some treats for you when you are finished so it’s not such a bad job after all 🙂
I survived the party, so I guess that’s a good thing. But I think I’m going to have a little talk with Binky.
Ok. Now I am eating a wine gum. 🙂
I think I’ll join you! You should never eat wine gums alone.
Okay Gooberandcindy.com and Winky I will join you in a packet or ten of wine gums anytime 🙂
Gooberandcindy is now Goober & Cindy & Alex, plus you and me, that makes five! So I think we could go through those ten packs of wine gums pretty fast!
I have just added another fifty packs of wine gums Winky so now we have plenty to go round 🙂 Yay 🙂
That’s a relief! I was afraid we might run out, and then what would we do?
We would go and get some more, there is a never-ending supply of wine gums for Wombies I thought that you knew that Winky? 🙂
I sometimes get a little anxious over things I shouldn’t worry about, but we’re talking about WINE GUMS!
I am more confused than anyone because I have no idea what a wine gum is and by the time I get another chance to be n the internet again this will be too far back for me to get your answer. I have no wine gums… I am just going to have another piece of deer jerky and try to get unconfused.
Wine gums are like the best ju-jube you’ve ever had! But much much better!
This has been a rather confusing one overall, but a little chocolate makes it all seem much better!
Hey an insignificant spec has a right to exist, too!
Especially if it’s chocolate!
Way to bring it back to Earth!
Binky’s too spacey for his own good sometimes.
Yes but that is the way we all like him to be, busy inventing bigger and better rockets to take us all into outer space, and more importantly to look for all that dark matter he keeps mentioning 🙂 Chocolate here we come 🙂
That’s true, we are counting on Binky to get that rocket of his working. All that dark space chocolate out there is just waiting for us!
And what a great adventure that will be I can’t wait until we all blast off for that dark matter party, but we won’t forget the party hats 🙂
I think we might have to switch our party hats for party helmets, though. Rockets can be dangerous!
So wine gums do not contain wine??? So weird. lol
Thanks to Wombania I’m making research on the Internet now. These gums are not “popular” here.
Yes, no wine in wine gums. They’re a British candy, so they tend to be popular in former British colonies or territories, but are often hard to find elsewhere. They’re similar to ju-jubes, but are much tastier.
Mm this just kicked my craving for wine gums again…
Hanging around us Wombies will do that! Here, have some of mine!
Wine gums, nothing makes me more confused than ever. Sure would like to try one and become confused much more!
Wine gums confuse a lot of people! They’re sort of like ju-jubes, but are a whole lot better.
I like watching stars too 🙂 But I have to confess, that I’m not much familiar with wine gums 😉
Wine gums are hard to find in a lot of places. British countries usually have them, though.
