It Doesn’t Happen If You Don’t See It
A lot of people seem to believe that. It’s too bad it isn’t true.
On a somber note, we are saddened to report the passing of our friend Bo Lumpkin, a fellow cartoonist and blogger, who had been suffering from health problems for a number of years. Despite that, he was always positive, and always witty and wise. Bo was many things, including a jewelry maker, a preacher, and a humorist, but most of all he was a kind and decent soul. He touched many, and will be sorely missed. You can visit his cartoon site Gatorhead Comics or his blog I’ve Been Thinkin’ to see what made him tick. Rest in peace, Bo.
Bo will be missed by so many in our blogosphere, a charming character with an amazing sense of humour.
I didn’t know him very well but on the times that I have engaged in conversation on his blog, it was always a very nice experience and I certainly can recall his jewelry making talents, he was a gifted and incredibly talented individual, friend, blogger and cartoonist.
R I P my friend…
Andro
Bo was a very nice guy who will be missed by all of us who were privileged enough to know him.
So sad to hear of Bo’s passing. He was an original soul. RIP Bo
Bo certainly was. He had a very unique perspective on things.
I like Winky’s logic 🙂
here have some of my
chocolates Winky, you
don’t need to open your
eyes to enjoy them 🙂 🙂
Eating chocolate with your eyes closed is still just as yummy!
Wow, I knew Bo wasn’t in the best shape but I didn’t know it was life threatening. I’m off to his sites right now.
Bo had cheated death quite a few times recently, and he outlived all his doctor’s predictions, but his passing was still unexpected.
Sorry to hear about Bo. I look forward to checking out his work.
Bo may not have been the world’s best artist, but his observational humor was really good.
I don’t have television, nor do I regularly buy the newspaper and I kind of feel guilty about it…but at the same time it makes me so much calmer not having the news forced in my face 24/7.
I’m very sorry about your friend.
With instant access to everything, and with being constantly connected, we tend to get overloaded with everything these days. It’s probably not the best for us.
Thanks for the condolences.
I will miss Bo’s comments. He wrote a lot of thought provoking posts.
Bo had a good perspective on life.
Well, if you don’t see it doesn’t make it any less real. Just saying.
I’m so sorry for your friends passing. May he rest in eternal peace.
Have a terrific day. 🙂
Thank you, Sandee.
It may not solve any of the world’s problems, but it helps you to hide from the pain. 🙁
And that’s important!
But you will never escape!
And very kind of you to mention Bo in your blog. He had a lasting impact on so many. RIP.
Bo’s gentle humor touched a lot of people and we were lucky to know him.
Less tv can equal less depression.
Sorry to read the news about Bo. 🙁
Bo’s passing is sad, indeed.
But TV can have happy stuff too! I guess I shouldn’t watch the news.
Don’t watch the news and $$visit$$ 8-bit Nerds. I hear that site only has happy stuff.
Does it have any chocolate? That’d make it happy for me!
I can’t figure out how to activate the Dispenser Chocolate WP Plugin.
I’ll tell Binky about that. He should be able to get that working for you!
Great tribute to Bo
Thanks, Bearman.
I agree Bearman, it is a very nice idea and I am sure that everyone feels the same way about Bo and his passing 🙁
It makes you feel better Winky but it’s all still there when you open your eyes again.
Bo will certainly be missed by so many. He was such a nice bloke. .
Bo was an old fashioned Southern gentleman. With a great sense of humor.
Maybe I’ll just keep my eyes closed forever then! Except around treats!
Awe Winky, if it make you feel better to just close your eyes then you do just that…but it will still be there.
Here, you can open your eyes for this big chocolate shake.
~
Bo was a very kind and dear person. He was always very kind to me. He was very funny and love the Lord….he will be missed.
Bo was a preacher, but he never pushed any of his beliefs on anyone. He was just a good example of what one should be.
Yes, he knew how to do that.
Many push, which can cause resentments from others. But not Bo, he just set a good example as you said.
Bo was just a good old boy. With a good sense of humor.
That he was! 🙂
Maybe I could borrow Fraz’s Genie so that when I close my eyes I could wish all the bad stuff to go away!
While your at is will you make a wish for me? I want all fuel to be less that a dollar a gallon.
Okay, I’ll wish that for you! But you can fill up at Fraz’s gas station, too!
I forgot about that, and the prices are nickles and dimes too!
You deserve and extra milkshake for that reminder! Two Winky’s size choco shakes coming up!…here you go!
Oh boy! I should try and remember things like that more often!
You don’t have to remember stuff to get a milkshake. I’ll give them to you anytime. Even if you asked me for one, or two, three, ten, or twenty! 🙂
Then I’d better remember to ask!
May his soul rest in Peace.
Thank you, Dillip.
My sincerest condolences on the passing of your friend.
I don’t read the news papers or watch the news either….but it doesn’t mean I don’t know what’s going on. The thing to do, for me is to just concentrating on love ..loving myself and loving those I meet..and trust that it will ripple through.
Sometimes I wish more good news are shared too. A balance.
Thank you, Shree.
The news does tend to be negative, and a balance would be better. But worldwide there does seem to be more bad stuff going on than good.
I don’t know Peter…maybe it’s because that’s what we are given. Bad news it seems sells better than good ones…
Sometimes I feel we feed into the vicious cycle…hmm….
It does seem we are trapped in a vicious cycle. It’s so hard to have a balanced perspective when you can never really see the entire picture without any bias.
Mhmm…reminds me of statistics…there is no true value when studies are done…too big…the picture is just too big at times for us to actually see the whole thing…I guess that’s where faith / trust and all that comes into place…it doesn’t matter what the faith is on…God, the Universe, the Force, Source, Our Higher selves, Science, the Beauty in Art, Nature……it’s that hope for the highest good for each and everyone. 🙂
Yes, things are much too big for us to comprehend it all in its entirety. How much we can ever really know is a big question. If everyone in the world could reach their true potential, the world would be a much better place indeed.
Pheww, I understand why he wouldn’t watch. Sometimes I have to take a break from trying to keep up. It often bums me out and makes me feel helpless to read the world news.
I wish we could make all the bad stuff go away by not watching the news!
I occasionally watch the news. But mostly, I get my info from the Internet.
Wombania is the best place to get all your chocolate news!
So sorry about your friend. My condolences!
Great message in the cartoon strip.
Thank you, Indrani.
I’m really sorry to hear you’ve lost a friend. 🙁
Thank you, Rosey.
Sorry about your loss of a friend. Sometimes closing your eyes to world problems is a type of survival technique, especially when one feels helpless to change the world.

Thanks, Joyce.
That’s true, it is. Sometimes we can feel quite overwhelmed by all the problems of the world.
It was terrible to hear that Bo has passed away. My condolances go out to the family and friends of Bo.
It certainly was. Bo’s presence around here will be missed.
I hope that everyone is eating lots of chocolate this evening / morning / afternoon or whatever 🙂 Chocolate is good for you 🙂
Chocolate makes the world go round … and also my tummy 🙂
I bet my tummy is much rounder!
You don’t have to tell me that, Andro! I eat chocolate whenever I can!
You make sure you get enough, too!
Oh yes it would be nice if we could hide away from all the bad in the world by covering our eyes. But what if it happened to the good things too, like chocolate & wine gums! The best we can do is treat others the way we want to be treated and work on creating a better world.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the lovable wombies and humans too 🙂
Yeah, I wouldn’t want to miss all the good stuff. Maybe I could get some sunglasses that would just filter out the bad stuff!
Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Faythe!
I want to add my condolences for your friend Bo’s family and long list of friends. The funny happy side of the blog world has lost a friend but gained an guardian angel.
Thank you, Faythe. Bo was a very nice guy who never seemed to have anything bad to say about anyone. Well, other than wasteful politicians.
Amazing and thank you friend… @ ^_^ kindness blossoms in your heart
Thank you for the kind words, Gede.
My condolences Peter.
Thank you, Denny.
it is true if you don’t see it it really doesn’t exist, like Monday mornings. just don’t open your eyes and refuse to believe sunday is over
Really? I’ve got to try that next Monday. I mean Sunday!
The very same reason I don’t watch the news, Winky!
Very heartfelt write-up about Bo, Peter. He will be missed.
Thank you, Mark. Bo will be missed, indeed.
I don’t watch many news for the same reason as you Wink 😉
I never knew Bo, I wish I do. Hope he will sleep soundly in his final sleep.
I’d rather watch happy things. Like cartoons!
Thanks you, Novia. I hope so, too.
