Life Before The Internet
Though it’s hard to believe, life did exist before the advent on the internet.
(This comic strip was previously published on April 16, 2009.)
Our good friend Soma Mukherjee made this Wombie graphic for her CODE NAME CHOCOPO story that she recently posted on her blog. In the story, the Wombies are superheros, and save the world! Well, the weekend at least.
Oh Its true I feel like Chris ,I get him this time
hmm I grew up on a healthy dose of Phantom, Mandrake, Target, Famous five,
Oh we used to have so much fun back then..
I miss libraries 🙁
Do libraries and real books even exist anymore? Once upon a time I used to read books. Now I internet.
Oh The wombies really saved the world, imagine a world without weekend..Yikes
Thanks for the mention Peter 🙂
You’re welcome, Soma.
The Wombies saved the world, with a lot of help from you.
Remember when websites didn’t have ads?
or if you put ads on your site, remember when their weren’t ad blockers and us bloggers actually made a buck or two?
The good old days indeed.
Didn’t have ads? That’s madness!
I relate Chris. When I grew up there was no internet, cell phone, only dial phone, no microwaves, and no video type games, and that only part of the no had list…lol…Geesh, I feel like I deserves a stack of chocolate pancakes for all those years of torment!
How could you even live without all those things?? I’ll tell Twink to make you a big bunch of pancakes!
I don’t know, I guess you just don’t miss what you don’t have. But geesh, to think about it now….I hope is a super big bunch of pancakes!
Yeah I guess but I wouldn’t want to live without all those things! Twink made you a Wombie sized stack of pancakes!
Chomp chomp…Mmm, all done. I had to eat them fast before my clan discovered them…thanks Fraz, and tell Twink I said thanks too!
I will! You should come over for pirate pizza later! And bring everyone too!
We’ll be there around 6:30ish. And we’re all staving for your pizza!
Good! I’ve got a whole pirate ship full of pizza waiting to be eaten!
I’m glad to hear that, Fraz, cuz I got a pirate sized appetite…we all do!
I know! I hope we don’t run out of pizza!
I remember Soma’s posting. Truly fun, fun, fun, as always! 🙂
Soma’s posts are truly like no others!
There unique and one of a kinds. Everyone here that don’t know who should go visit her! 🙂
Yes, everyone should visit
Soma’s Blog for a bit of fun!
I just went over there, and was laughing so much!. She’s terrific that Soma! 🙂
Soma usually does have some pretty funny, crazy stuff. Though she also has some pretty serious posts, too.
I agree, and most all of those are pretty important messages too.
Yes, they are. Soma really takes issues to heart.
Sometimes I feel old, but then I remember I write comics, play videogames, watch cartoons…
That should help you stay young!
Don’t feel too bad, Chris…
I’m so old I can remember when comics were painted on cave walls…
🙂
You might even be older than Chris!
So that’s who the bearskin underpants belongs to in one of my Neanderthal scripts? 🙂 I will post them on to you later SIG after they’ve been investigated thoroughly by the scientists 🙁 Eeeeeuw
I wouldn’t want to investigate those!
Me neither 🙁 Eeeeuw
!!
Sometimes I feel so old too. Bwahahahahahaha.
Have a fabulous day. 🙂
But then you go boating!
I’m surprised Fraz knew what a comic was!!!! Sheez, try explaining an audio cassette to these young wombies today.
I know comics! Chris has a bunch of them!
Is that other thing an old cell phone?
heavy sigh 🙁
My kids can’t believe that we didn’t have portable music growing up. This generation is WAY too spoiled. 😛
A way too a lot of things!
Me too!

We may be old, but at least we’re. . . something. Wise, I hope!
I’m not so sure after what I did yesterday. 🙁

Cute little puppies are hard to resist!
Your old???? What’s a comic book – we draw all of our funny pix on our cave walls! W.C.C.
That’s old!!
Kudos to ‘SPILLEDINKGUY’ – just realized that FEEBLE minds must think alike! W.C.C.
I guess old people like to stick together!
I’m right there with you. Some of the kids that were kids when I was 20 are graduating High School.
Time marches ahead, even though some of seem to be standing still!
Life without Internet was fine, fun even. You don’t miss what you’ve never had. 😉
I couldn’t live without the internet!
Poor Chris he always feels so terribly old after a conversation with Fraz, but then I guess he is a bit on theold side, but at least the Wombies appreciate him, well sometimes anyway 🙂
I was never old until I had Wombies!
It must be a difficult job but at least you get a lot of chocolate treats for your trouble 🙂
I don’t get any chocolate treats for my troubles! I get my chocolate treats stolen!
Yes well I can believe that Chris, I know why not hide your chocolate stash inside one of the Zombie traps and that way Fraz won’t find them? 🙂 Just be careful when you retrieve them though or you could lose more than your favourite cologne 🙁 Gulp
The Zombies would probably end up with my chocolates, then. Or maybe end up with me!
This is a fun cartoon Peter and has everyone thinking back, waaaaaay back in some cases but I like a bit of nostalgia 🙂
Have a chocolate filled weekend everyone 🙂
Some of us definitely have more waaaay back to remember!
Yes like meeeeeeeeeee 🙂 lol
And meeeeee too.
🙂 lol
There will come a day when the youngsters will ask Fraz why the comics were on this thing they call “paper”. Then HE will feel old.
I’m never gonna get old! Never!!
Stay young, Fraz! I’ll help with an elixir. All I need is to extract some blood from Peter Pan…
I’m glad my last name isn’t Pan!
If he elixer then she
might lick him back 🙂
Ewww!
Tell me about it. It’s a warped youth sometimes. I am glad I remember the good ‘ol days.
And the next generation will be even weirder I suppose. At least to us.
Oh Bless the internet!!I remember how it was before the internet era 😉
The internet certainly makes a lot of great things possible, like meeting and communicating with people from all over the world.
Yup…thay’s the main benefit of internet 🙂
We wouldn’t know you and the wombies without the net 🙂
And we wouldn’t know about you and your turtle family! And happy belated International Turtle Day!
Thank you Uncle Peter 🙂
…and don’t forget the cake next year 🙂
You’re welcome, Novroz. And I’ll try to remember the cake!
Let us never forget those ancient years B.G. (Before Google).
How could there be time before google??
Not very many people even knew about Wombies before the internet!
And I remember the good old days, too, but were they really so good?
We had to yell really loud sometimes to get far away folks to hear us, but never as far as the internet can go to reach out.
Fraz, you wouldn’t be the star you are without the internet, that’s for sure.
If you’re nice to old Chris, maybe he’ll tell you about some other ancient artifacts you might like, like ice boxes before refrigerators, LP records (vinyl) before CD’s, and before radio, well we had hootenannies.
Well, my old memory’s getting tired, so I’ll need a nap now…
zzzzzzzzzzzz….
🙂
Some of those things sound fun! You could come to my school and teach history! You know a lot of it! But I don’t think the good old days are really that good. I couldn’t live without the internet!
Life before google, the bad old days.
I couldn’t live without google! I wouldn’t be able to look anything up!
But there are plenty of X-ray glasses ads!
Chris said they were fake but I’d still like to get them!
ah Fraz, are you sitting comfortably?…. Once upon a time, a long , long time ago, when there was nothing to watch on TV, … you used to go outside and play… nowadays, there’s a screen and whole world wide web to investigate, … now which is safer I wonder? 😉 xPenx
That sounds like the tales Chris tells me! They’re pretty hard to believe!
Yes…some of us were born BI. Before Internet.
That’s when the dinosaurs were around, right?
I used to love Sad Sack comics. The ads in the back were for Sea Monkeys.
I saw those ads! Binky said they’re not real though.
I had sea monkeys . They are real!!!
Binky was wrong?? I want some sea monkeys!!
Have a great chocolate and
wine gum weekend everyone 🙂
You too, Andro! And keep those Zombies at bay!
I will try to Peter, by the way I have sent you an email this morning onyoure Muscle Car Jungle website, not that I am rushing you of course, I am just saying in case you don’t look in there as often as your other ones 🙂
You have a great collection of cars on there Peter I enjoyed my visit, as I did the last time 🙂 Have a fun weekend my great friend 🙂
Yes, I got your email, Andro, thanks. I have the email accounts from all my websites come into my main email program so that I don’t have to go looking for them.
I’m glad you liked my car site. Now if I only owned a few of those cars. . .
I am with you Chris, but it makes you wonder How did we ever got answers for questions back then? A bit easier now then hauling around Encyclopedias all the time.
We actually had to know stuff back then! And remember it, too. Those were the days. . .
I was just thinking how as a kid I could spend an hour playing with some tar on the sidewalk…oh fun times
Yeah that sounds like real fun!
Fraz is a baby. He’s even younger than me! OMG!!! I feel old too. Ahahah
You’re not old like Chris! He’s really really really old!
You and me both!
And we just get older and older.
Sigh…me too :/
None of us are getting any younger!
Back in those days raw amateur cartoonists like myself didn’t stand a chance.
I wouldn’t have even discovered cartooning without the internet. Before I discovered more webcomics Bo Lumpkin, Jeremy Bourke & Bearman were the 1st 3 cartoonists I discvered as my initial inspirations to give it a try while I was still just regular blogging.
The internet has affected almost everything, and has radically changed cartooning and the audiences we can reach. Anyone can now have a world-wide audience, and it has been wonderful to meet and communicate with so many people from so many different counties. Like you!
It’s like the tree falling in the woods. Was life before the internet really life?
I don’t think so! How could anyone live without the internet?
