Word a Day Calendar
Learning a new word every day sounds like a good goal, but how many people actually remember those words afterwards?

You just can’t be too ambitious. Better to be a successful Wombie than set higher goals & be a failed Wombie.
Yes, very good advice. One should know one’s limits.
Blahahahah, probably given to him by the Australian education department. Ooh, did I say that out aloud?
You might be right. Winky won’t say where he got the calendar from, but every Wombie should be an educated Wombie.
Maybe you should have a contest as to who can come with the best 12 words to use in a word of the month calendar. Mine would be
You are such an idiot. Buy a dictionary and learn something new.
I don’t know. Some of those words are rather advanced for a little Wombie.
I agree that you can’t be too ambitious. I can relate to a word a month calendar. Bwahahahahahaha. Over achiever indeed.
Today I have lots of new words in my post.
Have a terrific day. 🙂
Learning a new word every month is probably still more than a lot of us achieve.
Hahaha – farcical!
Sadly I got that from my word-a-day online thesaurus. Not very impressive. I was hoping for something with at least two or three more syllables than that, but…
🙂
Yes, but then we might not have been able to understand you.
Ha,ha,ha. Goal slacker!
The lower the goal, the better the chance for success.
That’s what I like to do. Set low goals and then fail to acheive them.
I guess that way you can get twice the satisfaction.
Hmmm….maybe that’s how I should approach my New Year’s Resolutions.
I would definitely recommend the set-your-goals-low approach.
your good
I try to be.
I had a look around your blog.
You are very busy and productive and your characters are very nice.
I think Fraz is the best.
Well done – keep it up!
Thanks, Jan. Your digital sketches are very nice, too.
I got one for Christmas one year. Next year I got a quote a day. I found I forgot to turn the page each day the first year so read them in bunches. I knew all the words already anyway. When I got the quote one, I read them all before the New Year.
And yes realistic goals are good. Less frustrating than actually trying to accomplish something. At least that is my philosophy!
Accomplishing things usually takes a lot more effort than you bargained for.
I guess it makes it a lot easier if you already know the words, but that probably wouldn’t be the case for Winky. A quote calendar would probably be better since no one expects you to remember those.
maybe if the 1st word would of been to Remember, he may of learned something? It can be hard to concentrate long enough to rip off a page every day on a calendar, tho… but does mess up your month if you don’t… I missed a whole week and Valentines came & went & I didn’t even know I missed out on chocolate! Have you wombies ever had that problem?
my grand-kitty Favre left you a message Here since I can not a email addy from you. 😉
Word-a-day calendars rely too much on remembering. Remembering to rip off a page every day, and remembering to remember a new word each day.
Us Wombies never forget Valentine’s Day or anything to do with chocolate, though. In fact, we like to celebrate Chocolate Day every month on the 14th.
that is a good strategy Binky. but what if you like chocolate more than 1 time a month? I have a big sweet tooth to fill. and you are right about a calendar, I would forget & just eat more every day, because I can’t remember ??
We celebrate Chocolate Day once a month, but eat chocolate as often as we want. Well, maybe not as often as we want, since then we would be very round Wombies indeed.
Education should be relevant to the learner if it is to take any effect. The following example overtly teaches meteorology, while covertly encouraging arithmetical skills. Even Winky, though, should recognize the primary value of this lesson.
Word for February: DEW POINT. The dew point (more accurately, dew point temperature) is a measure of humidity in the air. If the dew point is below the air temperature, the air is dry. For every degree below air temperature, an application of chocolate lip balm should be applied. Example: “Yippee, it’s minus five, but the dew point is minus 14, that’s nine apps of ChocoSmile today!”
The primary value of this lesson is that I get to eat more chocolate!
I really like your February word. I sure hope you’ll come back next month with an equally delicious word.
See, Winky? I knew you were a quick learner, given the right circumstances!
Chocolate is a great motivator!
