English has all sorts of rules that only work some of the time! It’s confusing.
Hey that’s a common thought of teachers in the school system, sadly.

Of course it counts. Just like English English or American English. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. . .
That’s about as high as I can count also.
To count higher, I like to use M&Ms.
