Do It Yourself iPod
You can make just about anything yourself if you put your mind to it. Sometimes it’s not really worth it, though.
(This comic strip was previously published on April 27, 2009.)
Our talented friend and artist Debbie Adams painted her recently adpopted Wombie, Shadow, with his favorite things: chocolate cake and fish! The fish are chocolate fish, of course. Debbie’s original Wombat Day 2013 post can be seen on her blog.

Ah, like the old Walkman except this is the rocket racerman.
I wish it was rocket powered!
It is an impressive build that one Fraz, I think that Binky deserves some chocolates and wine gums as a thank you 🙂
Yeah he does. But I wish it was a little smaller!
It takes a lot of carting around
but at least it is state of the art 🙂
It’s almost the size of a state! A small one. Like Rhode Island!
Maybe the newer versuion
will be as big as Cleveland? 🙂
Version too 🙂
I was hoping for a smaller one next time, not a bigger one!
Sell the old computer parts and purchase a used iThingy off of Ebay. E-i-E-i OH!
♪With a moo moo here and a moo moo there, here a moo there a moo every where a moo moo.♪
♪Old McBinky had a farm E-i-E-i OH!♪
You could come to my school and sing that for show and tell!
iThingys are so expensive these days. Why buy one when you can make your own?
That is my opinion as well.
Now we just need a four mile extension cord and we’re ready to ride!
Maybe I could get some batteries instead.
Bwahahahahahahahaha. I just love these guys. I really do.
Have a fabulous day. 🙂
Thanks, Sandee.
I’m afraid that’s how mine would turn out. But imagine all the music!
Almost as much as an iPod Nano!
Poor Fraz. He’s got a lot to lug around!
But I can load up the wagon with chocolate too!
That’s true! I just discovered a new taste sensation: Milk chocolate with caramel, sea salt and pretzels. MMMMM….
I’m gonna have to try that!
That’s the biggest ipod I’ve ever seen!…cool switch too!
Hey, there’s chocofish today I see! 🙂
Thank you for posting my Shadow’s Wombat day drawing! 🙂
I just saw you new product in your gift shop! Very cool and professional looking…great job!
I google+ and tweeted it too!
Shadow brought us a huge chocofish, so I thought I’d grill it with some coconut and maraschino cherries.
Sounds yummy, Twink! May I have a slice?
Of course! There’s enough for everyone! Well, everyone except for Winky and Shadow. They’d eat the whole thing themselves if I didn’t give them their proper share.
That was so delicious, thank you, Twink!
The boys do have over sized appetites.
I suppose they have to fill their over-sized tummies some how.
I don’t know how you ever found my new designs, but thanks for promoting them, Deb!
I follow you at CP. I saw it, went to your store and got busy.
You most welcome, Peter!
Well that was very nice of you!
It was nothing. I was just a little ole click. 🙂
Now have some pizza and chocolate pie. 🙂
Those items are rare commodities around here.
Why does that not surprise me?
I suspect you have the same problem at your place!
Everyday. 😉
You need to have a secret place to keep a little chocolate for yourself.
I do, but don’t tell my Wombies!
Don’t tell them what?
ah, ah!…Oh nothing. 🙄
Oh. Okay. I won’t. Want some chocolate?
Yes, please, I need some for my own tiny chocolate vault.
What a chocolate milkshake?
I’ll trade you a chocolate shake for a truckload of chocolate from my factory!
That’s a really good deal, Winky!…thank you!
I’ll keep you in milkshakes winter long too!
Oh boy! I like that deal!
And it starts now!
One large Winky sized pitcher of super chocolatey milkshake topped with choco whipped cream and wine gums!
Oh, that’s so good! I think maybe I’ll just sit here looking out the window drinking milkshakes all day!
I wonder if you can make playlists with that homemade iPod?
I dunno. I’m still trying to get it to play a song!
DIYpod!
I wish it didn’t have the D and Y in there!
Oh no it won’t work because you forgot to bring your record collection
You mean like my school record report cards?
No round black flat vinyl plate sized things that have lots of grooves that a resord player needle goes in & plays music. Sounds weird I know. Maybe Chris can explain it better
I never heard of that. I think you just made that up!
Unfortunately all of MY high tech miniaturized audio equipment needs a wagon too for it to be portable!! W.C.C.
Perhaps we should get together and design something.
Wow what a surprise Binky’s a cool geek 🙂
I prefer to think of myself as a rocket scientist.
I love the art work from Deb, but her work is always top notch isn’t it Peter? 🙂 Well done Deb, it’s brilliant 🙂 xxxx
That’s for sure. All of Deb’s Wombie art has been wonderful. Of course, her other art is great, too.
I like Fraz’s expressions, you always get them spot-on Peter 🙂 Have a fine and wicked Friday my great friend 🙂
Thanks, Andro. Body language/positioning has a lot to do with it.
I will have to try that idea on mine 🙂
Don’t try too hard, though.
I’ll be happy to help with the chocolate cake portion of the chocolate and fish meal. 🙂 And lol to the ipod. 😉
There’s lots of cake for everyone! And the chocolate fish is really good too!
That’d work almost perfect for a home theater system – something the iPod can’t do by itself.
Perhaps that should be my next project.
My first setup was much bigger than that one.
How did you carry it around?
There was a time when bigger was better.
Then my ipod would be the best!
It is unique 🙂 Nobody on the
planet has one like this one Fraz 🙂
That’s for sure! No one even has one half as big!
Or even a quarter 🙂
Or even a, um, something smaller than a quarter!
Now that is a great Ipod. It will make some pretty music.
It does work pretty good!
Congratulations! I’m sorry for being late.
This new ipod looks pretty well 😉
I wish it was a bit smaller though!
Bahahahaah! Binky can be so kind 🙂 Fraz looked so cute in the first panel…for some reason I just wanted to grab him and give him a BIG hug….maybe I just missed the Wombies!! O.O
And you know…Fraz does look a little bewildered doesn’t he? LOL
I don’t like to be hugged and all that gushy stuff! But I wouldn’t mind some chocolate!
Hehe…you’re just like my sister. She doesn’t like to be hugged too! and she loves chocolates 😉
Well I guess it would be safe to have some chocolates with her then.
Very safe! 🙂
I’ll bring some chocolate over then!
She’s waiting…with open arms….
for the chocolate 😛
I’ll get there as soon as I can escape from school!
Hi Peter, I just read your comment on the Flintlock pistols and realised that I was not very clear on when the Flintlock was actually used, so I have added another posting to give a better understanding of what guns were available and when. Thank you for inadvertently throwing in the idea of the 1400’s or I would never have thought about my posting.
To be honest I just wanted to let you know that I was / am not not being critical of your comment, indeed I thank you for mentioning the 1400’s my great friend 🙂
Have a wonderful Tuesday Peter 🙂
Andro
No problem, Andro. I didn’t realize that a gun was first made in the 1300’s, though I guess widespread use didn’t occur until much later. I tend to think of them as being used in the late 1500’s.
I wonder what odd looks I’ll get if I start calling my TV, my video iPod? 😉
I dunno. But I want one too!
A truly portable music system. You can take it anywhere!
Almost anywhere. It’s not so go when I climb a tree!
Hahahaha…this totally fit the term don’t judge the book from its cover…well in this case from the size you see first.
Yeah it’s sort of like one of those iceberg thingys!
He’s bringing back the classic boom box on the shoulder and then some!
Sure, whatever that is!
