Here in our part of the world Down is On & Up is Off. I guess it’s the whole Northern/Southern Hemispheres effect
It must be something to do with the Coriolis effect and gravity in the Southern Hemisphere. Or maybe you just install you light switches upside down. Or we do.

No it is the same over here too, down for on and up for off, it’s a simplistic idea but Chris is definitely sarcastic and no mistake 🙂
We need to take an international Light Switch Poll to determine how many countries have UP for on and DOWN for on. Apparently in Japan the switches work sideways.
Perhaps there’s a good opportunity here to make an energy efficient light switch which is off in both the up and down position.
Here in Oregon they are correct. Up for on, down for off. At least if installed the right way. Sideways? That can’t be….. going to check….. They are sideways in Japan! How weird is that?
I know, and then there’s the push-button ones!
Maybe all switches should be replaced with those motion sensor ones that turn the lights on and off automatically when you enter and exit a room.
I knew someone with those in a room. She said when she was sitting and reading the lights would go off and she would have to make some motion to get them back.
I guess the lights were saying she’s not there.
Actually Will yours are the wrong way round, but wrong way round, side by side, or up and down, they could make us all a bit dizzy at this rate of knots 🙂
Now I’m so confused, I think I’ll never be able to use a light switch ever again!

Those light switch thingys would be a lot easier to use if they were closer to the ground. I have to put Fraz on my shoulder to reach it!

I know, some things are harder to understand than others.
I’m pretty good about cutting lights out. It’s just when I go to sleep, I like to snooze with the lights blazing. My wife will generally have to cut them off for me.

In my house, half of the switches turn on upwards, half of the switches turn on downwards. Obvisouly, they weren’t all installed by the same electrician.
Perhaps half of the switches were installed by an electrician who came from another country.
Truly enlightened now. 🙂
