Blast Off with Binky
Another old video from the vaults. Binky has always dreamed of one day reaching the moon, but such lofty goals require a lot of research and development and rocket testing.
This month marks the 50th anniversary of the first man in space. On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin was the first human to orbit the earth. Binky hopes to soon follow suit.
Two other Wombie videos are also available: Introducing the Wombies, and Invasion of the Wombies.

You definitely dug deep down into your vault Peter…sheez 2002, space travel and time travel !!!!!
Time stands still in Wombania!
I like the sound effects
As authentically recorded live on site.
Safe flight Binky…and don”t hit any bird up there! ‘Kay!
Binky has a BAS (Bird Avoidance System) installed on all his rockets.
I was kind of hoping the rocket would explode at the end of the video. This of course wouldn’t hurt Binky because everybody knows that cartoons can never blow up. Just take a look at Warner Brother toons for an example.
There have been a few exploding rockets, but Binky always manages to survive as Wombies tend to be bulletproof.
Then maybe we should start making bulletproof vests out of Wombies.
That would be a dangerous endeavor indeed. Binky does have rockets, after all, and he knows how to use them.
Hehehe. “Just don’t get in his way”
I will have to alert Iron Pawn that there is a speeding wombie going through the skies!
Yes, all the other super heroes had better beware that there’s a new kid (Wombie) in the skies!
Getting up was the easy part! Happy landings!
Landings are definitely not Binky’s strong point.
Rocket fuel burn was spot on…nice.
Thanks. That was the hardest thing to achieve, actually.
Well after all this time it looks like Binky is really goin’ places.
And fast, too. We hope he can also get back.
Binky looks good for his age!
Binky is three. In Wombie years.
Hahaha…
Binky… in SPAAAAACCCCEEEE! 🙂
(I hope this video didn’t end like some of the rocket tests I’ve seen on Mythbusters)! 🙂
The landing wasn’t his best, but Binky did survive and nothing blew up. So it wasn’t a Mythbusters moment. Thankfully.
I’m happy his safety has been CONFIRMED! 🙂
Fantastic animation Peter. Binky you look like a natural born test pilot. Maybe you could give Cedric a lesson on rocket construction considering his last failed attempt. Did you actually reach the moon & as you’re on the OUTSIDE of the rocket did your fur get singed on re-entry???
Thanks, Tony. Binky would be glad to give lessons to Cedric or even provide him with a rocket or two. These are just sub-orbital atmospheric test flights, so there was no re-entry problems. The moon shot is planned for the future.
Binky is not only the fastest he must be the strongest too. He can hang onto that rocket quite nicely.
Have a terrific day. 🙂
Yeah, that probably wasn’t the safest way to test the rocket, but Binky wanted a firsthand view of the flight.
And I’m sure he enjoyed the feel of the wind in his hair.
And that, too!
Binky fits on that rocket just right. I do believe he will make it to the moon…..can’t wait to see him land, less he runs into troubles.
Binky believes he will make it to the moon, too, but it’s going to be a while before he can build a rocket big enough to make the flight.
how does he stay on while hurtling through space??
ps. i liked his helmet 🙂
You can’t see them, but he has little little handholds built into the rocket. Nevertheless, it was a pretty dangerous flight. Don’t try this at home!
Well done, Binky! I hope you wore good hearing protection, that blast was pretty loud. Did you remember to pack a snack?
The helmet provides ear protection with noise-canceling technology, and a Wombie never goes anywhere without snacks! Specifically, chocolate and wine gums.
Go Binky!
He’s gone!
There’s been a man in space? Seems like I would have read about it in the papers.
They’ve been trying to keep it secret, but we’ve uncovered the shocking truth. Men have been to space! Wombies, not yet.
It’s great that you guys make animations. I like! 🙂
Too bad they weren’t real full-length animations, but even the very short ones take a lot of time and effort to produce.
Well, congratulations and all that goes without saying – but if he was heading for the moon shouldn’t he have swung a right around the 27 sec mark? 😉
This was just a test flight of the rocket actually, and not an attempt to make it to the moon. He’d better be inside the rocket for that one.
I watched all three of these when i checked out your channel.
This one is my favourite.
You should do more
Thanks, Richard. I’d like to do more, but I’m not really much of an animator, and they take so long to do.
