Working On Winky’s Book
Writing a book is hard work, but a hammer can come in handy for straightening out the tough bits.
Wombat Day, October 22 is coming up fast, so be sure to get your Wombat Cake in the oven before the big day. Otherwise you might just have to celebrate without cake, and that’d be no fun at all!
Can I use chocolate sultanas instead of chocolate nuts?
Certainly! You can decorate your wombat cake any way you like. It doesn’t even have to be chocolate, though most Wombies prefer chocolate.
I hate hard covers 🙂
I’d be glad to hammer any hardcovers you have.
Winky, I think we all wish it was that easy.
It is if you have the right hammer! Or should I say the write hammer! Ha ha!!
Heheheheheheheheheheheheh!
🙂
The cake looks delicious 🙂
hahaha Winky fooled Chris!!
The cake was delicious! But this year’s cake will be even more delicious, I’m sure!
Winky should soak it in a marinade for a few hours. It will soften the tough bits & make it tastier. Love the look of the wombat cake. I still haven’t done a comic to celebrate Wombat Day 2011 yet. I will have to get busy with it.
I never thought of marinading the book. I’ll have to try that next time!
A Wombat Day cartoon sounds like an excellent idea, Tony. We’d like to see that!
I drew it up today at work during my lunch break. Just have to make sure I colour it in time.
You’ve got 11 days and counting to color it, but even a B&W Wombat Day cartoon would be great.
Who made the Wombat cake? Wine gums and chocolate. Right up your alley.
That was a home-baked Wombat cake made by the Wombies. Could have used a little more chocolate, though, or so I was told.
Wow… that’s how I work my comic!
It takes a real artist to be able to wield a hammer correctly!
So he’s getting ready to hammer out a few more chapters, eh? I guess he’s trying to nail the plot down.
Hammering things down is a lot easier if you have a big hammer. But plots still give me trouble.
Great book so far Winky! Red! I always liked red. Great choice.
Also my calendar is marked. I think my post will fall on the 21st but… that’s pretty close. I have something in mind in the celebration sort of area.
Red is my favorite color! Red books are almost always good.
Are you planning something for Wombat Day? That sounds exciting! I hope it involves chocolate!
Yes. I’m planning a little something. 🙂 How could it not include chocolate?
Not in my world!
You can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Especially if a Wombat has been beating it with a hammer. That could turn out to be a best-seller. Or would it be best if you put it in the celar.
All my best books have been hammered into shape. And you can probably tell by their covers.
I could put my book in the root cellar, but I’m not sure if that would help or not.
Okay… I should have hammered out that other l in cellar before I submitted the comic. Now I am going to hang out in the root cellar in shame for the rest of the day.
I meant comment instead of comic. Now I am ashamed. I won’t even turn the light on in the root cellar. I will sit there in the dark and wallow in my shame while I eat chocolate.
You don’t have to hang out in the root cellar in shame! We all make mistakes. Some of us more than others. And I speak from experience. Just have some chocolate cake and forget about it!
That Wombat Cake is looking good!
I’d give you a slice, but unfortunately the cake was from a couple of years ago and it’s completely gone! But it was pretty good!
Is the cake chocolate on the inside?
Soak book in water.
Yes, the cake was chocolate all the way through, just the way us Wombies like it.
I’ll try soaking the next book I work on.
and mud, it’s got to have mud!
Fraz can make his own mud version of a Wombat Cake if he wants, but I prefer real chocolate!
I’ll come over here to celebrate. I can’t bake anything. That cake would be way too difficult for me to do. Just saying.
I now know that a hammer comes in handy when writing a book.
Have a terrific day. 🙂
Sure, you can celebrate with us here! Just make sure you bring your appetite.
Hammers are very useful for pounding a book into shape.
haha that book better be as hard as nails! hehe, and are you going to share some of that chocolate cake with us chinchillas =D?
Of course I’ll share my Wombat Cake with you guys! Just not the one pictured, as it’s long gone.
i would hate to see how he reads a book on tape.
I tried to read a book on tape once, but I couldn’t make out any of the words. Hammering didn’t help, either.
I never tried a hammer with all my book writing. Maybe that could be the difference between getting published or rejected.

A hammer can be a very good tool for writing a book, especially for the hard parts. Plus it makes you feel better, too.
Nothing personal, Winky, but I’m not lending you my Kindle.
But my hammer is just itching to do a little work on your Kindle!
That book seems like a real so and so to me. I’d give it a couple more whacks just to be sure.
I just did. The book seems better now.
That’s one way to work on it. Nice play on words.
Is there another way to work on a book without a hammer? Maybe a saw?
That was a very good one. I don’t know why, but it really got a laugh outta me. I love silly stuff. 😀
Sometimes it’s good to be a little silly!
So that’s how you construct the great Wombanian novel! Winky needs a Wombat at Work sign and a hardhat!
That’s a great idea! Even though some people around here don’t think I work.
I wouldn’t mind a BIG slice of that Cake Binky it looks mouth wateringly delicious, especially with all that yummy Chocolate… Winky will be starving after all that book bashing, best get a few slices ready just in case 🙂
Unfortunately that cake no longer exists as it was from a couple of years ago, but we’ll have to make an even better and bigger one this year to satisfy everyone’s cake needs. And of course you can have a big slice (or two), too!
I see a starring role in the Godfather remake. Sure can work over a subject.
A hammer does wonders in the right hands!
A delicious creation.
Thanks, Indrani!
Sometimes that’s the way I feel about my comics … Sometimes when I’m trying to ‘hammer’ one out I wish I had a REAL hammer. Go Winky!!!!!
A hammer can be a useful therapeutic tool for the creative process.
hmmm. wombat cake! 🙂
There’s nothing better than Wombat Cake, especially on Wombat Day!
I am surprised at how Winky was able to confuse Chris with hammering to write a book! I have heard of hammering out words on a typewritter… I could understand having to hammer a book if it was made out of a huge chunk of dark chocolate. but be sure to catch all the crumbs, we would hate to waste any of it!
I’ve never tried hammering dark chocolate. Chocolate doesn’t usually need any work since it’s already perfect. But, yes, if you’re going to hammer your chocolate, you should be careful not to waste any of it!
Wombat day! I dont even have the recipe for the cake what to do. And yes writing a book is a B word here. I have only written one and it needs tons of work that I have no time or energy to deal with. My girl on the other hand is on chapter 16 of her book and it is good.
You can always use a mix for the Wombat Cake. That’s what I do!
Writing a book is hard work, but I think a hammer makes it a lot easier. And more fun!
I’ll eat a wombat cake as long as it’s not made of actual wombats. I don’t think they’re kosher.
Wombat cake is definitely not made from wombats, but they are often made by wombats.
I am watching your cookie with hungry eyes 🙂 I wish to taste it. Perspective, that I’ll have to make some cookie by myself is not so pleasant. But thanks for giving great idea of what I should to bake. Yummy, yummy, yummy! 🙂
Making a cake from a mix isn’t too hard! Even I can do it. Or you can always buy a made cake and put a wombat on it. I mean a picture of a wombat and not a real wombat. That would be messy.
I use hammer for many other reasons too… all except to hit a nail 😉
A hammer’s my favorite tool. You can use it for just about anything!
Ha!
At least Winky hasn’t resorted to ye ole sledge yet!
🙂
That’s a good idea, actually!
